Vance is a town located in the western portion of Alabama. Situated in Tuscaloosa and Bib counties, Vance had a population of about 1,500 people in 2010 according to the United States Census Bureau. The town was settled in 1830. In 1879, the town was renamed Vance in honor of Dr. William Vance, a native of North Carolina. The town was formally incorporated in 1972.
Although Vance, Alabama is a small town, it is home to several notable attractions and amenities that will be of interest to all individuals. The town is home to 8 churches, a library, and Vance Elementary School. Many residents of Vance will travel to nearby Tuscaloosa, Alabama for recreational activities. The city of Tuscaloosa is home to the Alabama Museum of Natural History, the Paul W. Bryant Museum, Lake Tuscaloosa, Hurrican Creek, and the Belk Activity Center.
One of the major benefits to living in Vance is the weather. Winters in Vance and the surrounding areas are very mild compared to other parts of the country. Temperatures range from the upper-50s to low-60s during the day and often do not dip below freezing at night. Despite Vance’s mild climate, the town is not immune to cold snaps. Daytime temperatures during June, July, and August range from the upper-80s to low-90s on average. Record temperatures have been recorded as climbing well into the 100s.
